Erection ring side effects

The usual side effects of an erection ring are discomfort, tightness or numbness, and they are generally linked to a ring that is too tight or worn too long.

Are erection rings safe?

Erection rings are generally safe when they fit well and are worn within their time limit. FirmTech rates the TechRing and Performance Ring for up to 12 hours and the tighter MaxPR for up to 90 minutes. Remove any ring that hurts. Men with bleeding disorders, men on blood thinners and men with unexplained ED should talk to a doctor first.

How to lower the risk of side effects

Safe use, step by step

  1. Check your erect girth is 5.5 inches (14 cm) or less.
  2. Adjust the strap so it is snug, never painful.
  3. Use only water-based or silicone-based lubricant, never coconut oil or CBD oil.
  4. Stay within the wear-time limit for your ring.
  5. Remove the ring right away if you feel pain, coldness or numbness.
  6. Rinse with warm water and mild soap after each use.

What the rings are made of

All three FirmTech rings are made from soft, medical-grade elastomer that is phthalate-free and latex-free, which matters for men with a latex allergy. FirmTech describes them as having nothing hard or rigid. The rings use a hook-and-latch strap so tension can be loosened quickly. FirmTech says its rings keep blood in without blocking ejaculation. A study on the safety of a smart penile constriction ring worn overnight was presented at AUA 2024 and ISSM, according to FirmTech’s clinical studies page. The TechRing is splashproof; the Performance Ring and MaxPR are water resistant.

When should I talk to a doctor first?

Talk to a doctor before using any erection ring if you have a bleeding disorder, take blood thinners, have a circulation condition, or have new or worsening erection problems that have not been checked. Erection changes can be an early sign of heart and blood vessel problems, which is why FirmTech built overnight tracking into the TechRing.

What are erection ring side effects?

The most common issues with any erection ring are generally discomfort, a feeling of tightness or numbness when a ring is too tight or worn too long. Following the wear-time limit and adjusting tension lowers that risk. Remove the ring right away if it hurts, and talk to a doctor about any lasting symptom.

Who should talk to a doctor before using an ED ring?

Talk to a doctor first if you have a bleeding disorder, take blood thinners, have a circulation condition, or have any ongoing erection problem that has not been checked. Erection changes can be an early health signal, so a doctor’s view matters as much as the ring.

Does an ED ring restrict ejaculation?

FirmTech says its rings do not. The ring keeps blood in without blocking release. If you ever feel that release is restricted, or you notice pain, remove the ring and check the fit before using it again.
